2018 Presidential election:Manidem split over Akere Muna support

Supporters of the Manidem party are at daggers drawn over the decision of a faction of the party to throw its weight behind Akere Muna for the October 7 Presidential election.

On Saturday September 1, Dieudonne Yebga issued a press release in which he announced the Manidem party was throwing its weight behid Akere Muna for the Presidential election.

He called on all Manidem supporters to cast their votes for the FPD’s presidential candidate on October 7, describing Akere Muna as the ideal candidate to lead Cameroon into a “New Republic”.

However, Anicet Ekane who has been authorised to speak on behalf of the Manidem party by the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji says he does not recognise the alliance, accusing Akere Muna of fraud and describes the move as an attempt to crumble calls for an opposition coalition to defeat Paul Biya.

Anicet Ekane said Dieudonne Yebga is no longer member of MANIDEM and hold no right to strike any political alliance on behalf of the party.
