2019 Afcon : Morocco gives full backing to Cameroon

The Kingdom is lending its support to Cameroon at time when serious doubts have been on the country’s ability to host the showpiece next year.

The President of the Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has backed Cameroon to successfully host the Africa Cup of Nations next year.

There have been serious doubts about Cameroon’s ability to host the showpiece with the President of the Confederation of the Africa Cup of Nations questioning the country’s abilities whenever he has been given the opportunity.

Meeting in Marrakech on Monday March 05 on the sidelines of the first symposium on women’s football, Fouzi Lekjaa declared that Morocco is ready to support Cameroon in organizing the 2019 African Cup of Nations.

“We wanted  to stop rumors that have been circulating in the public square for a while. I reiterate the position of the Federation and the Kingdom of Morocco,” Fouzi Lekjaa said

“The kingdom supports our Cameroonian friends. And the Federation at the disposal of the Cameroonian Federation to make the Afcon in Cameroon a celebration of African football.

“So the rumors are over (…) Relations between the King of Morocco and President Biya of Cameroon are relations that are above the football manifestations, “he assured the public.

In returning, the President of the Normalisation Committee Barrister Dieudonné Happi said Cameroon will naturally back Morocco’s bid to host the 2026 World Cup.

Cameroon’s Preparations for the competition hit another brick two weeks ago when the head of works at the Olembe stadium stepped down from his role.
