Part of a hotel under construction in Garoua, North region of Cameroon collapsed on Friday in Cameroon in the course of decking,sources have conformed.
Acoording to the company in charge of constructing the company, Mota-Engil Cameroun, the incident happened around mid day on Friday when a section of the decking of the first floor collapsed.
The company however said they were testing to see how long the rods could hold and had not started the decking proper and it was just a preventive exercise.
The company reassured that the incident would not have any impact on the construction of the four-star hotel which comprises of 70 rooms.
The company said it was determined to complete works within the required deadline given the fact that they have already gone past 70 percent of the works.
