Anglophone crisis: French ambassador proposes dialogue as way out

Gilles Thibault, French Ambassador to Cameroon has added his voice to many others calling on the Biya regime to elect inclusive dialogue as a way out of the current crisis rocking Anlophone Cameroon. He expressed his position opinion on the crisis during the celebration of the French national day.

The French diplomat, according to French-language daily Mutations spoke in English, emphasising that dialogue with the agitating minority English-speaking Cameroonians is the feasible way out of the impasse rocking court rooms and schools in the North West and South West regions.

“It is more than necessary to give constant priority to the dialogue, after the tensions in the English-speaking Regions.The bilingual and multicultural nature of Cameroon is a tremendous asset in a context of globalization. I hope that the Cameroonians will benefit fully,” Gilles Thibault is quoted as saying.

Going by the French Ambassador, France has never made a discriminated between the French-speaking and Anglophone regions of Cameroon. He appreciated bilateral cooperation between the two countries, highlighting his countries support to Cameroon in the fight against Boko Haram and handling refugees.
