Charly Ringnyu Nyugap, a visually impaired PhD student at the University of Buea has embarked on a sit-in hunger strike in front of the Faculty of Education of the said institution.

Charley Ringnyu Myugap who is also an Assistant Lecturer says he has been prevented from defending his PhD for non-payment of tuition fees, which according to him is a violation of the law concerning people in his condition on Campus.

Nyugap claims Buea university authorities are using students with disabilities to raise money. He used the forum to urge government officials to heed his cry.
For their part, UB officials have debunked Nyugap’s claims, stating other students in Nyugap’s conditions who have passed through the institution in the past have always paid their fees and that Nyugap should be no exception.
