Burkina Faso’s home-based soccer team match against Benin ended in a draw Thursday in an international friendly match ahead of the African Cup of Nations for local teams to be hosted next year by Kenya.The Stallions scored first at the last minute of the first half of the match through Lassina Traore.
After the half-time, the Squirrels of Benin exert enormous pressure on their opponents and equalize by Marcelin Koupko with a unstoppable head at the 68 minute.
Despite the expulsion of midfield Benin Gaston Houngbdji in the 84th minute for being yellow-carded twice, the boys of coach Drissa Malo Saboteur did not manage to score a winning goal.
At the end of the clash, Driss Malo told the press that he was seeking for the right formula to have a competitive team during the next CHAN.
“It was a good opportunity for us to be able to pitch as many players as possible. We are in the process of setting up a strong home-based squad,” he added.
The home-based Stallions will cross sword with a Ghanaian counterparts in August in the West African Zone B playoffs and the winner of this two leg match will qualify for CHAN, Kenya 2018.
