Burkina Faso PM due in Jeddah to meet with donors

Burkina Faso Prime Minister, Paul Kaba Thieba will, on 22-23 April, pay a working visit to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to meet with financial institutions, APA learned from the Office of the Prime Minister on Sunday.The Head of Government of Burkina Faso will hold working sessions at the headquarters of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), to discuss the mobilization of funds to finance the Projects initiated as part of the National Plan for Economic and Social Development (NDPES), an Islamic bank in Burkina Faso and the issue “Sukuk” bonds.

The Prime Minister, accompanied by members of the Government, and a delegation from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will participate in a bilateral meeting with the President of the IDB.

This meeting will be followed by sectoral meetings between government members and IDB technical departments on projects related to their respective fields.

As a reminder, the IDB had promised, at the Paris Conference (December 2016) on the funding of PNDES, to accompany Burkina Faso in the implementation of its structuring projects. This working visit will set the stage for the disbursement of those funds.

Paul Kaba Thieba will also meet with the heads of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), and lead a working session between businessmen from Burkina Faso and Saudi Arabia. He will also have a series of discussions with private investors.
