Burkina Faso to offer decent job to every young by 2020

Burkina Faso intends to offer every young person a decent job by 2020, APA learned Thursday from the ministry in charge of Youth.”The new vision is to build a modern administration capable of promoting employability and raising the citizens’ awareness of youngsters, anticipating and meeting the demand for vocational training, in order for each young Burkinabe to have the opportunity to get decent jobs by 2020, “explains the minister, Dr Smaïla Ouedraogo.

To achieve this goal, the Government plans to implement projects and programs aimed at improving the employability of young people, promoting entrepreneurship and reducing the number of unemployed and underemployed youth.

The country is facing with a galloping demographic (more than 18 million inhabitants) while 70% of the population is under 25 and challenges such as poor access to vocational training, poor access to loan, employment, growing incivility and violent extremism.

The government plans to set up a single fund with specialized windows and to increase the capacity of the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment (ANPE).
