Burkina youth SME scheme gets CFA10b from govt

The government of Burkina Faso has allocated CFA 10 billion to the so-called Burkina startups scheme aimed at propping up businesses by young entrepreneurs, the Economy and Finance Ministry has informed APA.The Burkina Startups Program aims to promote the creation of innovative SMEs/SMIs spearheaded by young people.

Housed in the Burkina Faso Economic and Social Development Fund (FBDES) it will be spread over five years with a CFA2 billion yearly kitty, totaling CFA10 billion.

It will look to create 500 companies and strengthen 10,000 jobs in five years.

“This program aims to improve the conditions of access to finance, encourage the emergence of innovative young entrepreneurs in all fields, contribute to the acceleration of transformation and innovation in business and increase job creation by young people,” the ministry said.
