CAF’s President Ahmad Ahmad Ahmad, CAF’s has said the federation has never thought of stripping Cameroon’s off its hosting rights.
Ahmad was speaking today in Yaounde after meeting with the country’s football officials.
He was received this morning in Yaounde with Vice-President Constant Omari, Cameroon’s normalisation committee President Deuidonne Happi and Samuel Eto’o. The delegation was welcomed by Cameroon’s Minister of Sport.
After a closed day meeting, Ahmad Ahmad told the press that the federation has never thought of stripping Cameroon off it’s 2019 Afcon hosting rights. To him, it is up to Cameroon to tell the federation when it is ready. He said the meeting was facilitated by football icon, Samuel Eto’o.
This comes against media reports which highlights uncertainty on the safety of Cameroon’s 2019 Afcon hosting rights.
The Confederation of African Football had stated that they are not satisfied with Cameroon’s preparation to stage the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) finals to be held from June 15 to July 13 next year.
Caf was expected to declare their final position on Cameroon’s Afcon hosting rights this week but the executive committee postponed the announcement to November.
Ahmad’s outing this morning however puts to rest the rumors for now.
