Cameroon: 14 suspected armed bandits arrested after terrorising population in Douala

Security forces have reportedly arrested 14 suspected armed bandits who have been terrorising the population this Wednesday at the Nouvelle Route Bessengue neighbourhood in Douala, Littoral region of Cameroon.

According to reports, about 30 young men attacked civilians in the early hours of today, robbing them off their possessions before the police and gendarme officials apprehended 14 in a joint operation with the population.

Reports say they were in possession of deadly weapons like machetes and knives including items seized from their victims.

Before being taken away by the police, the bandits fell into the hands of the Bessengue population who reportedly gave them merciless beatings and only dispersed when forces of law and order fired tear gaz on them.
