Cameroon: 18 pro Kamto supporters arrested

Detained Kamto supporters arriving court on Friday

At least 18 supporters of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement were arrested on Tuesday afternoon by security forces around the premises of the Appeal court.

The supporters had thronged the court’s premises to witness the hearing of their leader Maurice Kamto who was expected to appear before the Appeal Court.

However, the area was cordoned off by security forces as most of the supporters attempted to force their way into the court as they chanted victory songs in favour of their leader.

This led to a stand off with security forces before 17 persons were arrested and detained at the Central Police Station for questioning.
