Cameroon: Another traditional ruler killed in restive Anglophone Region

The traditional ruler of Mile 14-Dibanda, Fako Division in the South West Region was on Sunday, December 13 found dead in the bush, sources have confirmed.

Chief Emmanuel Ikome, traditional ruler of Mile 14 was found dead in the bush after he had been earlier kidnapped alongside two of his peers by armed men.

According to eyewitness account, Chief Emmanuel Ikome was invited his peers along for the opening of his new house on Sunday. The chiefs of Mile 15 and Mile 16 who had come earlier and waiting for the other peers were all abducted alongside Chief Emmanuel Ikome.

It’s only hours later that the Chairman of the village council was reportedly called by the kidnapers to come and collect the mortal remains of Chief Ikome in the bush.

His corpse was then found in the bush and taken to the mortuary of the Buea Regional Hospital where it was examined before preserved. Security forces immediately launched a manhunt to track down the kidnappers and rescue the other traditional rulers still in captivity.
