The Cameroon Cycling Federation has apologised for failing to hold the Tour du Cameroun that was scheduled to kick off last waeekend.
The Federation announced on Friday, 24 hours to the start of the competition that it had been cancelled due to financial reasons.
The announcement came after the Algerian and Rwandan delegations were already in Cameroon as well as the Head of the Anti doping agency and the delegate from the Union Cycliste Internationale-the game’s governing body.
In a statement signed by the President of Fecacyclisme Honoré Yossi, the body promises a better organisation in the future.
Cameroon now risks suspension from the UCI and a heavy fine but sources say the Federation has proposed alternative dates to re-host the competition, pending approval.
The Cameroon Cycling Tour was scheduled to take place from the 10-18 March 2018.
