At least two elements of the Boko Haram Islamic sect have been killed, a large war arsenal seized by elements of the Cameroonian Defence Forces in a counterattack in Wulgo, a locality in neighbouring Nigeria, few kilometres away from Cameroon’s Far North region.
According to a release from the Ministry of Defence, the Nigerian locality which is not far from Fotokol, a locality in the Far North region of Cameroon, guarded by the Cameroonian Defence Forces was attacked by heavily armed Boko Haram fighters last Monday April 26.
The forces launched a counterattack which led to the death of a good number of Boko Haram fighters as the latter finally retreated.
Apart from neutralizing some of these fighters, the Cameroonian defence forces immobilized six tactical vehicles and recovered a large war arsenal including machine guns and assault rifles.
On the part of the Defence Forces, no death nor injury or better still damage was recorded.
The release indicates that the troops remain mobilized and on high alert to protect people and their property from Boko Haram incursions very recurrent in that part of the country.
