The Minister of Territorial Administration Paul Atanga Nji has met with the visiting United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Veronica Michelle Bachelet.

Received in the Minister’s cabinet, both parties discussed the security situation in Cameroon stressing on the respect of human rights, especially in the North West and South West regions of Cameroon.

Veronica Michelle Bachelet will equally meet with other government officials and civil society actors for an appraisal of the human rights situation in Cameroon.

Several international non governmental organisations have accused Cameroon soldiers of human rights violation as the conflict in the North West and South West regions continue to escalate.

The government on several occasions has denied such allegations and the Minister of Territorial Administration recently accused these INGOs of faking the number of internally displaced persons to as to raise funds for what he described as “their selfish interests”.
