Cameroon : Buea-based journalist detained in connection to Anglophone crisis

A journalist in Buea has been in detention for the past three days after he was arrested by security forces who suspect him of having links with separatist fighters, sources say.

Samuel Waziz, pidgin newcaster at Chillen Music Television, CMTV has been in detention at the Muea police station as investigations continue.

Sources say he is accused of hosting separatist fighters in his farm, an allegation the journalist has categorically dismissed and he reportedly opted to take security officers to his farm to verify.

The presenter of the popular program « Hala ya mata » continues to deny an links with separatist fighters in the area as calls continue to grow for his release.
