Cameroon: Buea Mayor seals shops respecting ghost town

The Mayor of Bueea, David Mafany Namange on Monday, July 13 embarked on an operation to seal shops that have been respecting ghost town.

From one spot to the other, the Mayor and his team sealed shops that have been respecting the Monday ghost towns imposed by separatists.

All persons whose businesses were sealed are expected at the council premises on Tuesday, July 14, where they will pay a penalty and sign an undertaking before their businesses are reopened.

The Mayor and his team also took time out to sensitise taxi drivers on the necessity to possess the necessary requirements in order to avoid skirmishes with security officers.

It is now left to be seen how far the Mayor can go with the operation after his predecessor, the late Mayor Patrick Ekema Esunge carried out a similar exercise to relative success.
