Cameroon: Building under construction collapses in Toumaka, West region

One person is still trapped under the debris of a storey building under construction which collapsed in Toumaka, a locality in Babadjou, West region of Cameroon.

According to reports, the building collapsed at about 9am this Tuesday October 20 on three workers.

Two among the three trapped under the debris succeeded to free themselves meanwhile, the third one is yet to be removed.

In the absence of elements of the fire fighting brigade, engines from civil engineering have been removing the debris in search of the worker.

Digging is still ongoing in the presence of the Senior Divisional Officer for Bamboutos, security forces and curious onlookers.

The cause of the incident is yet to be confirmed though locals point accusing fingers to the poor quality of work done plus building material used.

The technicians in charge of the construction and the owner are said to been taken to the gendarmerie for further investigation.
