Cameroon: Camwater looks to recover over FCFA 50 billion of unpaid bills

The Cameroon Water Utilities Corporation has announced it is embarking on an operation to recoup about FCFA 50 billion owed the structure.

In a communiqué released last week, the corporation said it was embarking on the operation with immediate effect as it seeks to recover about FCFA 50 billion of about FCFA 61 billion of unsettled bills.

“Starting from (November 26), clients with unpaid bills will be systematically disconnected, all over the country, except for users in some identified sensitive and sovereign areas, which are well known by our teams,” the corporation said in a statement.

The Corporation added that money owed them as at September 2021, stood at over FCFA 31 billion with over half of that amount owed by various corporations.
