Cameroon: Case against Ambazonia leaders adjourned as deadlock persists

The case against the ten detained ‘Ambazonia’ separatist leaders detained at the Kondengui prison has been adjourned to May 17.

The case was adjourned yesterday after the detained once again failed to show up in court as well as their lawyers as they had stated in a communiqué last weekend.

The defense team say their clients will no longer appear at the military tribunal after the matter was taken on appeal at the Appeal court of the Centre region.

The lawyers say they are not satisfied with the decision of the Military tribunal to judge the accused in Yaounde despite holding refugee and asylum-seeking status. They want the Appeal Court to look into the matter and order the Military tribunal to send the accused back to Nigeria where they were arrested.
