Cameroon: Cause of Sonara fire expected to be known today

The report on the cause of the fire that ravaged at least four production units at the National Oil Refinery, Sonara last month is expected to be submitted today in Yaounde.

The technical commission set up by the Prime Minister on June 11 to investigate the cause of the fire and propose solutions on how to revive the corporation is expected to submit its work at the Star Building today for onward transmission to the Head of State

The commission of inquiry made up of 15 persons and headed by the Minister of Water and Energy Gaston Eloundou Essomba has been investigating the causes of the fire, assessing the damage and proposing solutions.

While the commission was at work, fiver directors at Sonara and at least 21 employess were arrested and only released on July 2 as investigations went on.
