The former Archbishop of the Metropolitan Diocese of Douala, His Eminence Christian Cardinal Tumi has died aged 91.

He died late Friday April 2 in Cameroon’s economic capital Douala.

Tributes have been pouring in for the late prelate who was considered as a staunch advocate for a just society, a defender of the rights of the oppressed and marginalized.

Cardnal Tumi is one of those who always preached peace and advocated for a one and indivisible Cameroon.

This stand made him to be abducted by suspected Ambazonia fighters. Even in captivity, he still maintained his stand on peace and an indivisible Cameroon, what many will always remember him for.
