The movie The Fisherman’s diary produced by Kang Quintus has been awarded the prize of best overall movie at the 2021 edition of the Cameroon International Film Festival CAMIFF.
The award was handed over to the producer’s representative, Johnscot Enah, director of the movie at the closing ceremony of the festival Sunday April 25 in Buea.
The movie that focuses on the education of the girl child was nominated alongside several other movies from neighboring countries such as Nigeria, India, Zambia, Turkey and Botswana.
‘’This movie has been awarded internationally but it always feels particularly very good when you have and award in your homeland’’ Enah Johscot, said after receiving the award on behalf of the team.
One of the actors in the movie, Nigeria’s Ramsay Nouah received an honorary award for his endless support to CAMIFF.
‘’I did not see this coming, I was thinking about issues such as the crises and Covid-19 pandemic going on and I had little idea of the fact that the festival will still take place or me winning an award’’ the veteran Nollywood actor said
Cameroonian music artist Daphne Njie who made her debut in the movie said she played a minor, that of the headmaster’s wife which was a good experience.
The just ended edition of CAMIFF was organized with the collaboration of the United Nations Development program (UNDP)
