Cameroon: Claire Atangana takes over from late Charles Tchakounte as Bar president

Barrister Claire Atangana Bikouna has been named interim president of the Cameroon Bar Association in replacement of late Barrister Charles Tchakounte Patie who passed away Sunday October 4 in France.

The fifty-nine-year old seasoned Barrister who is specialized in business law will assume the interim duties of Bar president ahead of the election as the eldest member of the association pursuant to the law.

The decision was taken by the council of the Bar that met the same day Barrister Patie passed away by video conference.

The new Bar president, first lady to occupy such a position in Cameroon has a diploma in business law obtained at the faculty of law and economy of Aix-Marseille in France.

She got registered as a lawyer in the Cameroonian Bar in 1991.

Barrister Claire Atangana Bikouna has been a member of the Bar association from 2008 to 2012 and then from 2015 to date.

She is in charge of the training of lawyers on internship on representative of the Bar president in the Centre, South and East regions of Cameroon.
