The convoy of the Governor of the South West region Bernard Okalia Bilai was attacked in the early hours of Tueasday as it was heading to Kumba by armed separatist fighters, sources have said.

Sources say the convoy suffered two attacks first in Muyuka and later in Mbalangi as the Governor le a delegation to Kumba to visit the District hospital that was torched on Monday.

About four persons who were in the convoy are currently receiving treating after sustaining injuries from the attack as bullet shattered parts of the vehicles.

Buea-based HiTv quotes a military source in the convoy to have reported casualties on the side of the attackers though it was difficult to ascertain.

However, a source within the Governor’s entourage confirmed the attack but decline to comment further on reports the Governor had been flown in through an helicopter rather than travelling in the convoy.
