Cameroon/COVID-19 immunization campaign: Priority to health workers – PM Dion Ngute

The national immunization campaign against the deadly Coronavirus pandemic in Cameroon has begun with medical personnel.

 

The campaign was launched this Monday April 12 by the Minister of Public Health, Dr Malachie Manaouda at the COVID-19 treatment center in Yaounde, Orca.

The Minister and some close collaborators took the first doses of the Sinopharm vaccine which arrived the country Sunday April 11.

Speaking while receiving the 200,000 doses of the Chinese anti-COVID-19 vaccine at the Yaounde Nsimalen International Airport, the Prime Minister Head of Government thanked the Government of the People’s Republic of China for the donation and stressed on the fact that the priority will be given to health workers who are upfront in the fight against the deadly pandemic.

He encouraged the population to adhere to the immunization campaign for a better national response against the pandemic.

According to reports, the country is expecting another consignment by next month.

The Sinopharm vaccine is being used in over fifty countries.

Despite positive reports on its use, many remain sceptical about its effectiveness and side effects.
