Cameroon Cup Final : Coton Sport de Garoua Bags 7th Trophy

Coton Sport Cameroon's Champions

The 63rd edition of the Cameroon Cup final was celebratedon October 2nd 2022 as Coton Sport de Garoua wins Bamboutos 1 goal to nil .

Coton Sport of Garoua won their seventh Cameroon Cup title. Even though the game ended in a rather dramatic way with the goal scored in the last minute of the game, it was a treat for the spectators. The teams threw themselves heart and soul into the battle. The physical intensity was high from the very first seconds. The chances, from one side to the other, followed one another.

Bamboutos, who had the best chances, could have scored several goals in the match, and that from the first minute of play. But their usually efficient striker lost his magic touch in front of the net. Perhaps the stakes have frozen him. If there is nothing to say about the physical intensity, it was difficult tactically for both teams. For Coton Sport, who are also in the African arena, one would have expected better.

The control of the different lines was not there. However, coach Gabriel Haman, as an experienced man, knew how to get the best out of his players. And in this kind of match, it’s the most cunning who comes out on top.
This is exactly what Marou Souaibou did. At the age of 21 and with his great height, he decided to challenge the keeper with an aerial ball in the 90th minute.

When the defence had stopped, and the keeper probably thought he was going to stop, he went for it. He would win his aerial duel and score the only goal in an abandoned net. 1-0. That’s how the game ended. Coton Sport won the Cameroon Cup for the seventh time. The two teams will compete in a week to play the Supercup of Cameroon. This will be at the Kouekong Stadium in Bafoussam.
