The Minister Delegate at Presidency in charge of Defence, Joseph Beti Assomo has hinted the military is set to change strategy and up the ante in the fight against Ambazonia separatist fighters in the North West and South West Régions.

The Defence boss was in Bamenda, North West Region on Wednesday, September 22 for an evaluation mission following the death of at least 15 soldiers in separate atacks carried out by separatist fighters in the region.

Assessing the situation, Joseph Beti Assomo said the new paradigm in the security situation in the embattled régions warrants a change of approach for the Defence and Security Forces.

Alongside the Governor of the North West region and the various military officers, the Defence Minister assessed the situation on the ground before extending the Head of State’s condolences to the bereaved families.

Earlier this week, the spokesman of the Ministry of Defence confirmed at least 15 soldiers had been killed in separate atacks in the Ngoketunjia and Bui Divisions, North West Region.
