Cameroon: Deputy House Speaker, Hon. Monjowa Lifaka quits scene

The death has been announced of Hon. Emilia Monjowa Lifaka, Vice President of the National Assembly at the age of 62.

 

Reports say Hon. Emilia of the Cameroon People Democratic Movement died last night in Buea, South West region of Cameroon after suffering from illness.

The late Deputy House Speaker was in Parliament since 2002 and in 2009, she was elected Vice President of the Lower House of Parliament.

Hon. Emilia was one of the Parliamentarians who always galvanized women and encouraged them to put their voice in politics so as to be involved in decision taking in the country.

Her death comes to add to the many personalities quitting the scene in Cameroon these past weeks.

She died a day after Cameroon’s first ever First Lady, Germaine Ahidjo died in Dakar, Senegal at the age of 89.
