Cameroon: Detained Bafang Mayor finally released from Kondengui

The Mayor of Bafang who was detained at the Kondengui maximum security prison was on Tuesday released after an order from a judge.

Pierre Kwemo appeared in court yesterday where he was granted provisional bail after depositing a 2 million francs caution though the matter, one of his lawyers Jacques Mbugny said while adding the case continues.

Pierre Kwemo leaders of the UMS party is now a free man after spending over a month in detention in connection to a land dispute affair that dates back to about ten years.

His detention had sparked protests from his supporters in Bafang who called for immediate release as they said the matter is political and have vowd to disrupt municipal elections will not hold in Bafang if he is not released.
