Five individuals are currently gnashing their teeth in police custody in Bamenda, chief town of the conflict hit North West region after they were arrested in possession of material used in manufacturing improvised explosive devices.
The five individuals were arrested during one of the many operations carried out by security forces recently in Ngo-ketunjia Division to clean the area off separatist fighters.
Speaking during a security meeting to present report of operations carried out in some zones in the region Tuesday June 22 in Bamenda, the North West regional governor, Adolphe Lele Lafrique said the arrest was thanks to the collaboration of the population.
“Thanks to the collaboration of the population, security services caught five people with heavy material meant to fabricate explosive in the Division…” He said
“They are under custody of security services and will be prosecuted accordingly” Adolphe Lele Lafrique added.
The administrative authority announced that many more operations will be launched in zones still considered unsafe to bring to book such individuals.
It is worth mentioning that separatist fighters in the two restive regions have now resorted to locally made explosives to kill soldiers.
Nothing has been said on whether the five individuals arrested are Ambazonia fighters.
