Cameroon: Francis Ngannou receives President Biya’s congratulatory letter

Mixed martial arts heavyweight championship belt holder, Cameroonian-born Francis Ngannou has been officially handed over the letter of congratulations of the Head of State for raising the country’s flag high.


The original copy of letter which was sent to the athlete by correspondence was handed over to him by Sports and Physical Education boss, Prof Narcisse Mouelle Kombi who granted him audience this Wednesday April 28 in Yaounde.

Minister Narcisse Mouelle Kombi once again conveyed the Head of State’s congratulations to the international athlete for raising the country’s flag high and gave him financial encouragement on President Biya’s behalf.

Francis Ngannou made history by becoming the first African to win the world heavyweight championship belt in the mixed martial arts category last month end in Las Vegas, America.

He arrived Cameroon Monday April 26 via the Douala International Airport to celebrate with Cameroonians and was welcomed by excited Douala city dwellers as he toured some of the neighbourhoods of Cameroon’s economic capital in the presence of his mother.

Francis Ngannou who hails from Batie, a locality in the West region of Cameroon is expected in his native land in the days ahead for more celebrations.
