The Chairman of the Social Democratic Front Ni John Fru Ndi has rejectted a request by armed separatist fighters for all elected SDF officials to resign as a means to weaken the central government.
Ni John Fru Ndi was ‘briefly abducted’ by armed separatist fighters on Saturday at Wainama hill as he was leading a convoy to bury deceased SDF parliamentarian Honourable Joseph Banadzem.
As the convoy made its way to Kumbo without the Chairman, John Fru Ndi was taken to one of the separatist hideouts where they requested he instructs all the party’s elected officials to resign, sources said.
In a leaked video making rounds on social media, Ni John Fru Ndi is seen turning down the request, insisting the only way he can hold the central government accountable is through the elected officials.
He used the case of fugitive SDF Member of Parliament Honourable Joseph Wirba who was the first to raise the Anglophone crisis in parliament before later escaping for safety.
After holding the Chairman of hours, he was finally released by the armed men as he headed for Kumbo where Honourable Joseph Banadzem had earlier been buried.
