The government of Cameroon has rejectted allegations soldiers killed women and children over the weekend in Small Babanki, a village in the North West Region.
Clashes between security and suspected armed fighters led to a dozen dead with some villagers accusing the army of killing innocent civilians.
However, the Minister of Communication Rene Emmanuel Sadi in a statement that soldiers carried out a ripost mission on a separatist camp in Babanki following an attack that had killed at least two persons, notably a soldier earlier in the week.
The military operation led to the death of ten separatist fighters amongst them three women, the Minister of Communication said. The leader of the gang ‘General Fireman’ was equally killed in the course of the operation while several weapons and amunition were seized.
