Cameroon gov’t dismiss women, children execution video as fake

Cameroon’s Minister of Communication Issa Tchiroma Bakary has described a viral video on the internet showing soldiers executing women and children as fake.

The video has made rounds on the social media for the past 48 hours with many speculating the incident took place in Far North Region of Cameroon with the armed men seen wearing uniforms similar to that of the Cameroon army.

The video made rounds on social media with speculation rife the women and children taken for execution were suspected wives and children of Boko Haram fighters.

However, Issa Tchiroma Bakary said in a press conference on Wednesday that the video is “fake” and a “gross misinformation whereby the facts have nothing to do with the works of the Defense and security forces” of Cameroon.

The spokesman of the Cameroon government stressed that the video is an attempt to distort actual fact and intoxicate the public.

He revealed the an team of experts had keenly analysed the video and came to conclusion that it had been cooked up to tarnish the image of Cameroon’s defence forces.

The Communication Minister howebver ended by saying the Head of State Paul Biya has ordered an investigation to be opened “as per usual practice.”
