Cameroon: Gov’t prescribes vigilance as Coronavirus cases rise in Bamenda

The call was made by the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Public Health in charge of pandemics and epidemic, Alim Hayatou during a working visit to the region.

Accompanied by the Governor of the North West Region, Adolphe Lele LAfrique and the Regional Delegate of Public Health Dr Kingsley Che Nsoh, Secretary Alim Hayatou visited facilities hosting COVID-19 patients.

At the Bamenda Regional Hospital, he praised the health workers for the job they are doing but said they must be proactive in dealing with COVID-19 cases. He called on the health workers not to only place patients on quarantine but should ensure to immediately follow them up on a regular basis until they recover.

Alim Hayatou was also in Bamenda to listen to the challenges faced by the task force of the region in dealing with COVID-19 cases and he was presented with a number of them.

The Regional Delegate of Public Health, Dr Kingsley Che Nsoh requested for more testing kits, centres as well as testing centres as the number of cases continue to soar- the region now has at least 35 cases.

To this worry and others that were presented, Alim Hayatou reassured the Ministry of Public Health will to everything possible to provide solutions, promising that more kits will arrive the region in the days ahead.
