Heavy duty trucks of diverse categories have been temporarily banned from circulating on the East entrance leading to Cameroon’s economic capital Douala.

The information is contained in a press release issued today by the SDO of the Wouri Division, Littoral region.

The ban is applicable every day as from today August 5th to August 31, 2019 from 5am to 9pm.

According to the release, only official escorts, public works vehicles of the ongoing National road N°3, vehicles of forces of law and order, and ambulances have the priority to use the Douala East entry.

To make sure this order is respected, the SDO of the Wouri Division has instructed the Government Delegate to the Douala City Council, the D.Os for Douala 2 and 3 subdivisions, heads of the various gendarmerie brigades and police districts to strictly implement the decision and sanction any violator.

For some days now, travelling from Yaounde to Douala and vice versa has become quite unbearable due to rehabilitation works ongoing around Yassa Elf, ancient Aeroport. Passengers spent more hours than required to get to their destinations.
