The first ever Information Communication and Technology innovation week organized by the government of Cameroon is currently underway in Yaounde.
The five day event which kicked off Wednesday June 26 is placed under the patronage of President Paul Biya. It is a contest that involves 15 ICT projects shortlisted out of over 300 entries from across the National territory.
Holding under the theme “Innovate, create, and above all dare: which appropriations and what prospects for this call of the Head of state”, the ICT innovation week aims at spurring digital skills in youths to enable them to be independent and improve on digital economy.
The contestants are reported to be receiving mentorships from sector experts. At the end, the winners will be awarded cash prizes and the overall best winner will receive a special award prize of the President of the Republic.
While launching the event yesterday, the Minister of Posts and telecommunications Minette Libom called on all to get involved in ICT which stands as the future.
