Cameroon: investigations opened after inferno kills woman in Douala

Investigations have been opened into a fire incident in Douala last night that killed at least one persons and left several others injured.

Fire broke out at the Nouvelle Route Bessengue neighbourhood near the SCDP petroleum depot creating panic in area as some residents were trapped in their houses.

Kana Lucienne, 55 is said to have died from the incident while several persons are receiving treatment in the hospital from fire burns. Several houses and property are also said to have gone up in flames.

On Friday, the Governor of the Littoral region Samuel Dieudonné Ivaha Diboua said investigations had been opened to determine the real cause.

The Governor has also reassured the population to remain calm and revealed an ad hoc committee has been put in place to take care of the victims.
