An angry crowd early on Thursday morning descended in Molyko, Buea and administered mob justice on a gendarme officer accused on killing a child.
The child was being escorted to school when the gendarme officer stopped their vehicle , eyewitnesses said. While the mother was trying to park the car, the gendarme officer opened fire on the vehicle as the bullet passed through the back screen before hitting and killing the child instantly.
The crowd immediately descended on the scene as the disarmed the gendarme, brutalising and beating him to death, sources on the scene said.
The mortal remains of the child soaked in blood was later carried by the crowd who marched up to the Governor’s Office in protest.
