Cameroon: Journalist appears in court Bafoussam

A journalist working for Le Messager newspaper has appeared before the Bafoussam Court of First Instance to answer charges brought before him.

Joseph Olinga, West bureau chief for Le Messager Newspaper was appeared before the court to answer charges including contempt against constituted authority.

The case was however adjourned to December 13 for improper constitution of the complaint an the lack of witnesses.

It should be recalled that Joseph Olinga was arrested two weeks ago at Akwa, a popular neighbourhood in Bafoussam by security forces on patrol at night whie on patrol.

He is said to have been molested and thrown behind bars for three days before he was later released.
