Cameroon: Mfoundi SDO on collision course with SDF ahead of May 20 celebrations

The Senior Divisional Officer of the Mfoundi Division Jean Claude Tsila has warned political parties taking part in this year’s march pass of the National Day celebrations to be responsible or face the wrath of the law.

He was speaking to the leaders of the political parties in the Mfoundi Division during the first preparatory meeting ahead of the May 20 celebrations.

However, the SDO’s threats did not go down well with the Social Democratic Front who have since insisted they will stage a fierce demonstration this year than last year.

The SDF chair for the Centre region Emmanuel Ntonga said in a communique that they will not bow to intimidation and are ready to go a step further this year after expressing their disdain infront of the Head of State last year at the May 20 boulevard.

Last year, SDF militants stripped off their tops infront of the Head of State as a means to show their dissatisfaction at the conflict in the North West and South West regions.

The party says one year on, the government has remained indifferent and the situation has worsened with the death toll on the rise.
