Cameroon: Minefof praises its wood traceability Platform


A meeting took place on 17 March 2022 in Douala between the Ministry of Forests and Fauna and operators of the timber sector.

The Computerised Forestry Information Management System, Sigif II brought together the Ministry of Forests and Wildlife and operators in the sector in Douala recently.

On the agenda of the meeting was the official communication on the steps taken in the implementation of the Sigif II. Also, to exchange with the users of this application.

To date, hundreds of applications for boundary marking certificates have been submitted by operators. 60 requests for certificates of conformity of works; 3,000 preliminary consignment notes in the validation phase already granted to 12 companies, which to date have issued about 400.

Launched in April 2022, Sigif II aims to dematerialise procedures relating to forest management. Also, the production of all the information necessary for the respect of good practices in this area.
