Cameroon – Mvila : Tree Falls on School, Leaving one Dead , Three Seriously Injured

The tragedy occurred on Monday 30 January at the Biba III public school in Biwong-Bulu, in the South region.

 

According to the report of the director of this school, at about 9:30 minutes “a tree near the school fell on the building that includes the three classrooms of the school causing much material damage and loss of life”.

The head of the school said that a young pupil in CM1, aged 13, died on the spot. Three other pupils, also aged 13, were seriously injured. “In addition to this list, there were several minor injuries,” said the school headmaster.

The district authorities came to the scene of the tragedy. Plans were made to organise a funeral for the deceased pupil, to provide psychological support for the pupils, teaching staff and parents, and to rebuild the damaged classrooms.
