It follows an announcement made by the national council for didactics materials who also issued new prices.
Pupils of Class 5 and 6 as well as those CM1 and CM2 will have new textbooks from the 2022-2023 school year, as decided by the National Council for the Approval of Textbooks and Didactic Materials.
This new booklist was at the center of an evaluation process held between January 31st and February 4th, with last Monday being the day of official publication.
Members of the council had the opportunity to examine and select textbooks from 223 proposals made by 29 publishers. The latter selected 28 textbooks regarding the subjects taught in Class 5/6 and CM1/CM2.
Publishing this new booklist, the the Permanent secretary of the Council, Pr Marcellin Vounda Etoa used the opportunity to undescore a decrease in the prices of all general textbooks as a whole. Class 6 textbooks are dropping from 18.050 F to 12.150F and those of Class 5 from 18,150F to 12,100F.
Regarding the booklist of CM1, rather than paying 14,600F and 14,750F, parents will now afford only 12.150F for each class.
The selection of this new booklist is in light of a refresh operation carried out since two years now. According to Pr Marcellin Vounda Etoa, there is a necessity for textbooks to be aligned to the new pedagogy approach, which is the Competency Based Approach.
