Over 500 PhD holders have been recruited into State Universities nationwide for the 2021/2022 academic year.

The recruitment is the second phase of the special recruitment of 2000 varsity dons ordered by the Head of State in 2018 to solve the problem of inadequate staff in State Universities.

The operation was meant to take place within a period of three years beginning from the 2019 financial year.

The first phase saw 1,237 of these PhD holders recruited into Universities in all ten regions of the country for the 2019/2020 academic year.

About two hundred others are expected to be recruited to conclude the 2000 places made available by the Presidential decision.
