Cameroon: Paul Eric Kingue to be buried today

Paul Eric Kingue, late Mayor of Njombe-Penja has begun his final journey two days after his sudden departure.


The remains of the late politician were coffined at the mortuary of the Douala Laquintinie Hospital this morning.

Following the funeral programme, the convoy will go straight to his native Penja in the Moungo Division, Littoral region where he will be laid to rest beside his mother and son in the strict respect of anti-coronavirus measures.

Before then, it will make a stop at his residence in the Balebong neighborhood.

Paul Eric Kingue died in the early hours of Monday March 22 after suffering from a brief illness.

Few hours after his death, the Divisional Officer for the Moungo held a meeting at the end of which he announced Paul Eric Kingue will be buried in 48hours.

It is rumored that he succumbed to the deadly Coronavirus pandemic.

Authorities in the area have prohibited any manifestation around his death and insisted on the need for not more than 50 people to take part in the funeral ceremony.
