The Head of State Paul Biya will order an investigation into the death of journalist Samuel Abuwe aka Samuel Wazizi, French Ambassador Christophe Guilhou has said.

The French Ambassador made the revelation on Friday, June 5 after an audience at the Unity Palace with the Head of State.

Christophe Guilhou said they both expressed worries over the death of the journalist but said Paul Biya has reassured an investigation will be opened into his death.

However, a statement from the spokesperson of the Ministry of Defence, Col Cyrille Serge Atonfack earlier on Friday released a statement insisting the journalist died on August 17, 2019 from a “severe sepsis” and not torture as reported on the media.
