The Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, the Right Reverend Samuel Fonki has called on christians to endure and keep their faith in Jesus Christ as they battle the Coronavirus.
With the Holy Week looming, starting with the Palm Sunday, the Moderator regretted this year’s celebrations come in a special context marked by the outbreak of the virus.
Several measures have been taken to limit the spread of the virus, notably the restriction of gatherings with some churches shutting their doors or restricting church service.
“For the first time, we will celebrate the Holy week and Easter very small groups of fities in congregations, homes and gatherings…but God is never without a witness whether in the fellowship of the inner temple(our hearts), home fellowship or corporate worship in the church premises,” the Moderator, Rt Rev. Samuel Fonki said.
“We need to grapple with our own COVID-19 sufferings with greater understanding and hope in the Lord. It is extremely important to stick to the hygienic precautions prescribed by the W.H.O and the government of Cameroon in order not to be careless with our lives so as to endanger the lives of others,” he added.
